Oz the Great and Powerful Review

An Interesting but Slightly Unsatisfying "Prequel"

This is a cool and creative film. That's pretty evident. However, I suspect it's slightly disagreed upon, as of how the Wicked Witch came to be. But putting that aside, the acting was solid. Especially from Michelle Williams, who gives her role everything she can, and who I consider to be one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood today, inside and out. I also give some praise to Mila Kunis for taking a bit of risk on this role, but I believe it payed off.

You know the story. Dorthy goes to Oz. Kills one of the Wicked Witches. Meets friends with something they each desperately want, and kills the other Wicked Witch. Finds out she was dreaming the whole time. Well, this is not that story. This is of how the city of Oz came to be.  How the Wicked Witch of the West came to be. How Oz made his place there. The whole story is centered on Oz (James Franco). He is a failed illusionist who finds an escape, bringing him to Oz. After he realizes the truth, he teams up with Glinda (Michelle Williams), also with his monkey assistant (Zach Braff), and defeat the evil witches (Mila Kunis, Rachel Weiz) terrorizing Oz.'

I really enjoyed this film. And my one point of not being unsatisfying was something I should of realized had to happen. I wanted the ending to be where the witches were destroyed, and the day is saved. However for the many of us who have seen the Wizard of Oz know that Dorthy is the one who does that. But besides that, it's so much fun that you forget about the outcome, and just enjoy the ride.
